What are cookies?
Every website that you visit runs on a server. When you visit a website, the server generates information that is stored on your web browser and, the next time you visit the same website, your browser will send the cookie to that web server.
Cookies store your preferences like text size and language choice (for example when choosing between Welsh and English when you use the University of Wales website). They also allow you to add items to your shopping basket if you shop online and they are used when authenticating users on password protected sites.
When you are successfully authenticated by the Online Library authentication system, EZProxy, a cookie is sent to your web browser that registers your authorisation to use the Online Library subscription resources.
If cookies are enabled, you will only need to log in once per session to view all the Online Library resources. The session will expire after 50 minutes and you may need to re-login.
