Wales Says Yes: Devolution and the 2011 Welsh Referendum by Richard Wyn Jones & Roger Scully
The University of Wales Press invites interested members of the public and press to attend the launch of the definitive account of the 2011 Referendum by two of Wales’ leading political analysts, Richard Wyn Jones & Roger Scully.
Wales Says Yes: Devolution and the 2011 Welsh Referendum will be launched in Cardiff Bay’s Pierhead Building at 4.45 on 1 March, with a drinks reception preceding the event at 4.15.
The event will be chaired by Professor David Boucher of Cardiff University and speakers will include: Roger Lewis, Chair of the Yes Campaign; Professor Richard Wyn Jones (author), Director of Wales Governance Centre; Professor Roger Scully (author), Director of Wales Institute for Politics.
Drawing on extensive historical research, the book explains the background to the referendum, why it was held, and what was at stake.
The book also explains how the rival Yes and No campaigns emerged, and the varying degree of success with which they functioned.
Through a detailed account of the results, and analysis of survey evidence on Welsh voters, the book explains why Wales voted Yes in March 2011.
Finally, it considers what that result may mean for the future of both Wales and the UK.
