The University of Wales Press is pleased to announce that John Morris-Jones, which it published in December of last year, has been shortlisted for Llenyddiaeth Cymru’s (Literature Wales) Book of the Year 2012 Award.

The shortlist was announced at a special event held in Brecon Theatre, Brecon, on Thursday May 10, 2012.

This year three categories have been announced: poetry, fiction and creative non-fiction - this marks a departure from how competitions in preceding years were judged.

Written by Allan James, John Morris-Jones, the detailed biography of the eponymous scholar, influential critic and celebrated poet, shares the shortlist with eight other titles, which include Kate Roberts by Alan Llwyd, and Y Storiwr (The Storyteller) by Jon Gower who gave a discussion on his novel in last year’s National Eisteddfod in the University of Wales sponsored Literature Pavilion.

Winners will be announced at an Awards Ceremony at the Royal College of Music and Drama, Thursday 12 July at 7pm.

On the night, judges will announce one winner from each category by rewarding authors with a cheque for £2000 each. A further £6000 cheque will then be awarded to the overall winner of the three categories.
