With the festive season in full swing, Gregynog Hall has lots of events and activities planned for December. Hosting festive afternoon teas and arts and crafts days, staging a pantomime, and transforming the woods into a magical Santa’s Grotto, Gregynog Hall is gearing up for an extra special Christmas this year,
Bequeathed to the University of Wales as an inter-collegiate conference centre by the benevolent Davies sisters, Gregynog Hall is a picturesque and historic conference, event and study venue that nestles in glorious parkland on the edge of the Tregynon village, near Newtown.
The festive season at Gregynog begins this week on the 7th December with an afternoon concert featuring a return performance of the winner of the 2014 Gregynog Young Musician competition. Starting at 3pm, Harpist Juliana Myslov will join award-winning local choir New Dynamic, for an afternoon of seasonal music.
Other upcoming events include a series of days to help you prepare for Christmas and find some new inspiration. The days include Vintage Christmas Paper Crafts, where you can learn to create stunning decorations for your home, Christmas Flower arranging, and Christmas Cookery, where you can pick up some tips and learn new skills from Gregnog Head Chef Heiko Simmchen.
On the 6th, 7th and 13th of December, visitors can wander through the woods where Santa’s magical grotto will be open to everyone. Families are also catered for with the pantomime Sleeping Beauty, with two shows on the 14th December at 1pm and 4.30pm. Performed by Fame Factory, this spectacular show delivers a fun filled family friendly production with plenty of interaction and audience participation. Tickets cost £10 for adults, £7 for children or £29 for families.
For those who enjoy walking, Gregynog Hall has a range of winter walks to offer on its 750-acre country estate. With the lake in the Valley walk fully restored, and 1,000 winter pansies planted in the grounds, visitors can take in the beautiful scenery and routes and then return to the hall where a warming bowl of Welsh cawl awaits them.
