Geraint Evans, a member of the University’s governing body, was named an MBE in the 2010 New Year’s Honours list.
Mr Evans, who brings his experience as a businessman to his work on the University Council, was honoured for his very successful voluntary contributions to educational work in South Wales and, in particular, in the Vale of Glamorgan. He is Vice-Chair of Governors at Barry College – the fastest-growing Further Education College in Wales in each of the past four years – as well as having been a Governor at Ysgol Gyfun Bro Morgannwg since its opening, and Chairman of the Governors for the last six years. “In less than ten years the school has established itself as one of the best of its kind in Wales”, he comments, “and I am very proud to have been associated with that”.
In its turn, the University of Wales is proud to have Geraint Evans on its own governing body, and we congratulate him on this well-deserved recognition of his hard work and of the encouragement he has provided in different areas of the educational field.
