In a public lecture held on Thursday 26th March, Professor Medwin Hughes, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) and University of Wales (UW), presented his views on the implications of the several high profile policy reports published for the future of education in Wales.
Professor Hughes outlined UWTSD’s Educational Pledge during a lecture, entitled The New Opportunity to Lead. It provided the University’s perspective on the challenges and opportunities facing the Welsh education sector and invited discussion on collaboration between key agents in shaping the future school system and education workforce in Wales.
The lecture, the first in a series to be delivered by the Vice-Chancellor and Senior Officers at UWTSD over the coming months, was a response to the Review of Curriculum and Assessment Arrangements in Wales by Professor Graham Donaldson, the publication of the Teaching Tomorrow's Teachers Report by Professor John Furlong and the 'New Deal' for teachers in Wales published last week.
Details of the Educational Pledge are outlined in the document The New Opportunity to Lead which can be found on the University’s website, along with further information about the evening’s lecture.
