The National Eisteddfod will be held from the 2nd to the 9th of August in Llanelli, Carmarthenshire, and the University of Wales will have a presence at the event again this year, sharing a stand with our merging partner the University of Wales Trinity Saint David.
The University, alongside the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, will be sponsoring y Babell Lên (the literary pavilion) and will have a number of events and lectures taking place in the venue including the annual Friday lecture and a series of literary conversations.

Mererid Hopwodd speaks with Catrin Beard about Wales’ oldest Book- The Black Book of Carmathen.
Tuesday - 12.45
Russell Davies speaks with Catrin Beard about his book Pechodau Cudd Sir Gâr - sins of Carmarthenshire between 1870 to 1920.
Wednesday - 13.30
Hywel Griffiths and Menna Elfyn speaks with Catrin Beard about poems relating to the Carmarthenshire landscape.
Thursday - 13.30
Derec Llwyd Morgan and Lyn Davies speaks with Catrin Beard about the hymns of Carmarthenshire.
Friday - 13.30
Professor Dafydd Johnston will present a lecture on the Dictionary of Welsh Biography and the Identity of the Nation, and discusses the plans to develop this national resource.
There will also be a number of events taking place on the University’s stand including readings and conversations with authors associated with the University of Wales Press, an information session regarding Geiriadur Prifysgol Cymru – The Dictionary of the Welsh language and many other activities and lectures.
There is an opportunity for members of the University of Wales Alumni Association to come together on the afternoon of Monday the 4th August. Running from 1:00-2:00pm at the University stand, it will be an opportunity for Alumni members to come and meet with University staff in an informal setting and discuss any matters or concerns, or simply reminisce about their time at University. Members will also be able to find out more about the formation of the Alumni Forum and how it aims to form a focal point for discussions between the University and the Alumni, facilitating two-way liaison and communication.
