Directions for readersN.B. These are directions for preparing written slips: if you are preparing electronic slips, see slip-e. This is an example of a slip:
1. Record and words, idioms, phrases, &c., which are strange or unfamiliar to you, or familiar words used in an unusual context, &c. I.e. record anything you consider worth noting. 2. There is no need to record place- or personal names.
3. Note the word in its base
form. If the word in the quotation is plural, give the singular form
at the top left of the slip.
4. When citing a verb, give
the first person singular present indicative and the verb-noun at the top
left of the slip.
5. When citing an adjective,
give the base form every time.
6. Cite phrases, sayings,
&c. under the first element.
7. When writing the citation on the slip, underline the word in question every time. 8. Feel free to add any remarks or information on the slip. Place a circle around any such addition. |
