September 6th
Hello.
Oh we have some treats for you coming up! We had a team meeting regarding our plans for freshers; we’ve got prizes galore including a shiny new IPad! I was sadly overruled on purchasing massive jelly bears for prizes, but what we do have will compensate. For the chance to win a wicked prize come and visit our stall during your freshers and induction weeks, and visit My Wales on: http://www.wales.ac.uk/en/MyWales|
This week there was an all-staff meeting which brought together all departments and centres within the University. Staff received updates on what the University of Wales has achieved since the previous meeting and progress in the preparation for the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) visit taking place next month. Both the Student Submission document, (written by the students, showing their views about the University of Wales), and Self Evaluation Document, (written by staff members on what’s been achieved and developed since the last review), have both been printed and sent to the review panel. From these documents the QAA will base their review and assess the experience being delivered to University of Wales Students.
I attended my first Research Degree Board (RDB); a meeting to discuss the regulations and procedures for completing a University of Wales research award. Each Alliance Institution has been visited by the University of Wales to ensure best practice is being followed at your award centres. RDB gave me a chance to meet members of the board, (especially as a fire alarm disrupted our meeting and we temporarily had to evacuate!). Putting Faces to the names will hopefully help me to organise visits to each collaborative centre and Alliance Institution delivering research degrees in the next two months.
Next week a visit to Cost-Co (a big wholesalers Warehouse) is taking place - I actually can’t wait, it’s to purchase sweets and treats for the month ahead!
See you next week.
