This week kicked off with UWIC’s Fresher Fair, the first on our mapped journey. We had set up the stall by nine, so took the opportunity to discuss our approach and techniques for encouraging students to our table. The doors rolled open and crowds of students began to enter the great hall. Beach balls, highlighters, key rings, pencils - the lot were distributed amongst the crowd, the only catch being you had to take one of our scratch cards, and under the grey panel you’d discover which free gift was yours. We were surprised how early the fair finished, and how quickly our scratch cards were disseminated.
Now the challenge to win an iPad is over to you. On the back of the scratch cards there is a code, all you have to do is go to the website www.wales.ac.uk/freshers2010 and register your details to be in with a chance of winning our fantastic prize, or alternatively you can just head to the website for a look around, apply for UW bursaries and scholarships to see if you could be the fortunate student to receive further financial assistance this year.
The week ended with the fresher’s fair at Swansea Metropolitan University. It was the institution I attended while studying for my undergraduate degree and I had a lovely time being in familiar surroundings, distributing more scratch cards as students queued at the entrance to the theatre where it was being held.
It was another successful fair and week.
