21st January

Hello.

Have you had a good week? Since I last wrote to you, I have been out on visits and planned more for the near future, as well as met and discussed issues within the immediate SLO and further Academic team.

The SLO’s met last week to plan and co-ordinate our diaries - the next student hub is planned for the 26th February, contact Rhys for more information. The Research Students Conference is being planned for the 13th and 14th May; this is likely to be held in Cardiff, though I’m in the process of finding out venues and prices. This event will be for all students on research degree programmes and cover areas of key skills necessary to equip yourself to tackle a research degree head on, such as possible thesis formats, presentation skills and what to expect from a viva. If you’ve any ideas please don’t hesitate to email me at: h.brewsterwales.ac.uk|.

The student report is nearing its end - this is a report consisting of all the notes I’ve taken from the meetings held with you; I have drawn out your ideas and will propose them to the University of Wales, as well as action others at events like the Research Students Conference. The report is covering the initial meetings held at each institution. Now into the second term, the follow up meetings are beginning; the first to take place was with students from Princes - the best idea coming from the meeting was to create a newsletter that can be emailed around all who subscribe and include articles which you have written, so if you have any pressing stories you’d like to include please email them to me directly at the same address above.

See you in a few weeks, after my visit to the International Baptist Theological Seminary in Prague.

Hattie.
