Introduction to Hattie
17th August
Hi I’m Hattie, another Student Liaison Officer, working with Ben Gray and Rhys Parry.
I thought I’d introduce myself to you. I completed my BA in Swansea Metropolitan University in 2008, worked in their Students’ Union until last month, and for the last three weeks have been in Ghana. I went over to volunteer in schools, both painting and running workshops for children mainly aged between three and seven. Fortunately I also managed to fit in a variety of touristy things. Such as, a boat tour along part of Volta Lake, which is one of the largest manmade lakes in the world. Visits to The Ghana Armed Forces Museum, Elmina Castle and Kakum National Park. I didn’t actually see much wildlife, plenty of ants, Butterfly’s, chickens and goats, but sadly I think we were too noisy on the rainforest walk to see the Monkeys and Antelope. So that was Ghana, and now I am back in my new office for my second day of work. Yesterday was focused on introductions and inductions to the University of Wales.
My job is to work primarily with research students and facilitate conversations between students on University of Wales postgraduate degree programmes, by organising focus groups and with the introduction of Global Campus encourage conversation through technology. To do this I require your input, your ideas and experiences studying on Post Graduate Degree courses.
So until my next blog.
Hattie.
