Student Engagement Developments
Since the last blog I attended the University of Wales’ two day Administration and Quality Conference, involving over 50 delegates attending from approximately 25 Collaborative Centres. It included presentations covering a wide range of subjects such as the Appeals processes and Teaching Fellowships. The information presented in these sessions was very helpful and will be beneficial for my role in the upcoming year. Along with this the first day finished with a tour of the Millennium Stadium (the home of Wales’ National sports teams).
Ben Gray and I had the pleasure of concluding day two with a presentation on the University of Wales’ Student Engagement; our aims and mission for the year ahead. The topics covered the London student Forum, student inductions and a plan of action to distribute training modules for students.
The conference provided me with the opportunity to meet members of staff from Collaborative Centres to introduce myself and provide a brief overview as to what I am hoping to achieve this academic year. It was the first step, to pursue of the London Student Forum.
Further developments within our Student Engagement Team include the arrival of Harriet Brewster our newest Student Liaison Officer. With the University recognising the good work by Ben Gray in the last academic year, it wants to show its commitment and develop the engagement with students further.
Harriet has made an immediate impact and has already contributed work towards the production of our online Student Survival Guide.
