Answers to some of the most commonly asked questions about Graduation Celebration.

Academic Dress

Answer:

Once you have recieved confirmation that you are able to attend, you will be given information on where to hire your graduation gown.  Details on how to do this will also be made available on our robe hire pages

 

Confirmation

Answer:
You should receive confirmation that you can attend the event shortly after 15th March 2012. If you have not received your confirmation by this date and you are eligible to attend the event please contact the Celebration Organisers (graduationwales.ac.uk|)
 

Guests

Answer:
Yes, we welcome you to bring family and friends to help celebrate your achievements. However, as space is limited we can only guarantee TWO guest tickets per graduate until numbers are known
Answer:
Yes, the Graduation Celebration is a family occasion. Those children who would require a seat will need to be included in the number of guest tickets you would require.
Answer:
If graduates or their guests have specific access requirements, or have any other needs that we could assist with, please contact the Celebration Organisers (graduationwales.ac.uk|) prior to the event.
  

Photos

Answer:
Yes, you are welcome to take photographs and videos of the event. However we do ask that you do not obstruct the official photographers in their duties
Answer:

Yes, there will be the opportunity to have official photographs taken on the day. This can be pre-arranged with the official photographers.

Registration

Answer:
Yes, you are very welcome to attend the event. We do not hand out certificates on the day.
Answer:
Yes, you are very welcome to attend this year’s event if you have achieved a University of Wales award.
Answer:
Being admitted to your award means that your award has been officially confirmed by the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Wales. You must be admitted to your award before you are eligible to attend the Graduation Celebration
Answer:
If you have already received your final result from the University of Wales before the 1st March 2011 then you are eligible to attend. If you have not received your result but you are aware that a University of Wales Exam Board will be held before this date then, if successful, you will also be eligible to attend. Please see our Am I eligible|  page for further information
Answer:
If you've mis-spelt or incorrectly inputted your details on the registration form, please contact the Celebration Organisers (graduationwales.ac.uk|) informing them of the correct information.  Do NOT re-register your details.
Answer:
Now, the University of Wales will verify that you are eligible to attend the event. If eligible, you will receive final confirmation that you have a place at the event and the number of guest tickets that have been allocated to you by April 2012
Answer:

You should receive an email which will confirm the details you have provided when registering for the event, up to 24 hours after submitting your details. Please first check your Junk Email folder, and if you have not received the email, please then contact the Celebration Organisers (graduationwales.ac.uk|)

Answer:

If you have missed the registration deadline, then you are unable to attend the event. You will be very welcome to attend the 2013 Graduation Celebration instead

 

The Event

Answer:
No, your certificate will be sent to you within eight weeks of being admitted to your degree.
Answer:
The 2012 Graduation Celebration will be held on Thursday 3rd and Friday 4th May 2012 at the Wales Millennium Centre|, Cardiff
 

The Venue

Answer:
Wales Millennium Centre is situated in Cardiff Bay. A map and travel details will be made available on our Travel and Accommodation page in due course
 

Tickets

Answer:
There is no fee for you or your guests to attend the event
Answer:
Your ticket and your guest tickets will be available to collect from the registration desk on the day of the event. You will be informed from what time your tickets will be available for collection
Answer:
Although we can only guarantee two guest tickets per person, there may be the opportunity to receive extra tickets once we have a clearer idea of the number of people wishing to attend. You MUST provide details of the ideal number of tickets you require when you register your interest in attending the event. We will then allocate any extra tickets in a fair and equal manner
 

Travel & Accomodation

Answer:
A list of hotels and hostels will be made available on our travel and accommodation pages once we have confirmed attendance at the event, or you can vists Cardiff's tourist information at www.visitcardiff.com| .  The University of Wales advises against booking accomodation and travel until your place has been confirmed at the event

No, it is your responsibility to arrange your own travel to the event
Answer:
No, it is your responsibility to arrange your own accommodation if required.
 

Visa Letters

Answer:
The University of Wales can issue you an invitation letter so that you can attend the graduation. Details on how to apply for a letter will be made available on our Invitation Letter (for Visa Purposes) page in due course.
 

Other

Answer:
Yes, members of staff are very welcome to come and support their graduates. Please inform the event organisers if you’re intending to attend the event
