Dr Howell Rees Scholarships
These Scholarships are provided from the income of a bequest made to the University by the late Howell Rees CBE MRCS LRCP (1847‑1933) of Cardiff.
General Scholarship
Eligibility
-
Welsh Speaking
-
satisfy the matriculation requirements of the University,
-
a student who has already entered upon a scheme of study for a degree of the University shall not be eligible for an award,
-
based on the results of the Entrance Scholarships Examinations conducted by Aberystwyth, Cardiff and Swansea University respectively every third year.
Order of Preference:
-
Those who were born in Cwmaman (in the County of Carmarthenshire) or Brynamman or Gwaun-cae-gurwen or Cwmgorse;
-
Those whose parents were living within the boundaries defined in (i) at the time of the candidate’s birth;
-
Those who were born within the County of Carmarthenshire.

can be held for up to three years, subject to satisfactory report from the institution.

Scholarship in Medicine
Eligibility
-
Welsh Speaking,
-
native of South Wales (including Monmouthshire),
-
preparing for the degrees of MB BCh at School of Medicine during the three years immediately following the completion of the first two years of the five-year programme
-
based on the results of the University examinations held in years 1 and 2 in the subject areas related to anatomical and physiological studies, on the recommendation of the School of Medicine.
