Functions of a Moderator
As a UW Moderator you have a quality enhancement and programme development role for validated scheme(s) at University of Wales (UW) collaborative centre(s).
One moderator, drawn from the University of Wales Alliance or Faculty, is appointed for each validated scheme for a period of five years. There are currently over 120 moderators working for UW.
Your role is critical in supporting and developing the collaborative centre and as an academic link between the collaborative centre and the University of Wales. The full details of the role and responsibilities of a moderator are published in the Quality Handbook and a matrix has been developed to help define the division of responsibilities between the moderator and other roles.
Each collaborative centre is allocated a Validation Officer and Institution Officer from within the Validation Unit; the Validation Officer will accompany you on examining board visits and be your point of contact on administrative and quality matters, you will deal with the Institution Officer on all registration matters. Two external examiners will also be appointed for each scheme.
