Assessment Process
Whilst the external examiners will be responsible for approving draft assessments and reviewing the internal marking; you, as moderator, have an important role to play in guiding collaborative centres on the development and implementation of learning and teaching strategies, compliance with UW regulations and successful operation of the examining process.
At the early years of validation, you may want to assist the collaborative centre by reviewing and commenting on the draft assessments and marking criteria prior to formal submission by the external examiner, via the Validation Unit. Your advice and support would also be helpful for collaborative centres in developing a double marking and moderation policy, developing their feedback processes to students and in helping the centre prepare for the examining board.
You will be expected to attend all examining boards in an advisory capacity; Validation Officers will manage all arrangements for examining board meetings. UW has overarching regulations and the collaborative centre will have scheme specific internal regulations, which must comply with UW regulations and be approved at the validation event. The Validation Officer will be able to offer advice on any regulatory matters.
