About Us

The Global Academy is the University of Wales|’ programme to bring the private sector in Wales together with higher education and the brightest young graduates from anywhere in the world.

Our projects are designed to boost the Welsh economy by enhancing the innovative capacity of business and boosting their ability to develop new market led processes, products, technologies and services. These projects are designed with the sole purpose of improving the innovation potential and the competitiveness of Welsh businesses through increased research, development and commercialisation.

Innovation is our watchword: through diversifying and exploring the possibilities of new technologies and ways of thinking, we believe that companies can exploit their greatest resource: knowledge, for the good of our society. Increasingly, we believe that open forms of innovation are the best ways for businesses to take advantage of their ideas, whether through collaboration with other businesses, academia or the public sector but we also understand the needs of the company to do what's right for now. That's why we are putting millions of pounds of our own money into projects that bring together collaborators to pursue ideas that will benefit our social, economic and environmental well being.

We work together with our strategic partners in NESTA| (the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts), the Welsh Assembly Government| and Welsh Higher Education institutions to deliver our projects to the highest standard. Our team at uses Prince2 project management principles to deliver all of our projects and is staffed by a dedicated project manager and a team of Innovation Fellows, each an expert in a business sector strategically important to Wales.
