Rhys began working at the Centre in 2012, having taken a BA in English at the University of Oxford and an MA in Eighteenth Century Studies from the University of York. His current research focuses on the 'Ancient British' identity claimed by many Welsh people during the eighteenth century, and its relationship to the development of British nationalism. He's particularly interested in the politics and activities of the London Welsh societies, the Britons in Welsh and English literature, and the historiography of Ancient Britain.
