In this lecture Ann Parry Owen looks at the attitude of two professional medieval Welsh poets towards their role as praise-poets as well as their relationship with their patrons. Both Cynddelw Brydydd Mawr (c.1155–95) and Guto'r Glyn (c.1435–95) have been considered as the chief poets of their period by their contemporaries as well as by later scholars.
