The Wales Centre for Advanced Batch Manufacturing (CBM) is a new initiative that has been jointly established by the University of Wales and University of Wales Trinity St David. CBM’s research and development activities are centred on the creative application of advanced technologies and techniques across a wide range of manufacturing sectors including automotive, aerospace, medical engineering and craft sectors.

CBM is offering 5, 3 year PhD studentships as the first cohort of research students to undertake applied research in the following areas: 
   •  New approaches to small batch manufacture;
   •  Modelling medical products;
   •  Application of advanced manufacturing technologies to the
       design and development of craft based products;
   •  The application of advanced technologies to aerospace
   •  The application of advanced materials and technologies to the
       design, modelling and manufacture of medical implants.
