Informal Requests for Personal Information

Informal requests for personal information can be made to the Data Protection Officer|

The purpose of this service is to try and save both the University and the data subject time, effort and money.  Experience has shown that many of the University’s students, past and present, have not always understood the relationship between the Institution or College they actually attended and the  University of Wales.

The University keeps a very small amount of information| on its students, just enough in fact to ensure that the correct award ( degree, diploma or certificate) is awarded and to respond to queries in the future.  We do not, for instance, keep details of academic study that would enable us to provide an academic transcript.  That information is held by the Institution or College attended.

It is because of this that you are invited to make an informal enquiry as to whether a subject access request would yield the sort of information you are looking for, or whether you would be better directed to making the request of your Institution or College.
